The Comic Fair returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife this fall

The Cine+Cómic Foundation once again schedules a new edition of the International Comic and Illustration Fair in Santa Cruz, which this time celebrates its ninth anniversary and brings with it its traditional Artist Alleywhich this year has received more than one hundred requests to participate.

Artist Alley is an initiative that is committed to Canarian talent, allowing participating artists to show and sell their work at the La Recova Art Center from November 17 to 20. Of the hundred applicants, 36 creators will be selected, explains the organization.

Camila Pomares, manager of the Artist Alley, has highlighted that never before have they received so many requests. Only in the first 24 hours of publishing the form were more than 50.

The manager underlines the showcase that this space represents for all the participants, since “there is a lot of talent on the islands and they move a lot to make themselves known and spread their work”.

Among the original items that visitors to Santa Cruz Comic 2022 can purchase include original and signed illustrations, reproductions and graphic art.

Regarding the creators who will participate this year, some are recurrent in the meeting of comic and illustration fans in the capital of Tenerife, such as Elvira Piedra, Aythami Cruz, Víctor Jaubert, Juapi Coffee, Elisgardor, Bada80Art, Karamoto Rider, Adassa Delacruz, Luz Sánchez Aguilar or Crucible Crowling.

Added to them are new names such as Lorena Piedra, Kura, Oxana Kiss, Iguanche, Giam.L, Android Creations or Tipsypancake.

The main novelty that the International Comic and Illustration Fair will offer is the recovery of face-to-face attendance, after two years in which it has been held virtually.

The Cine+Cómic Foundation has designed a poster that will feature international figures such as the American Howard Chaykin or the Finnish Emmi Nieminen, as well as Miguelanxo Prado, National Comic Award winner with his work Ardalén in 2013; or CAFU, Spanish cartoonist for the American industry and currently in charge of drawing Ironman.

Raquel Gu, Mamen Mureu, Juan Álvarez, JL Martín, Rosa Codina and Pepe Farruko will arrive in Tenerife from the magazine El Jueves; to which will be added an exhibition dedicated to the humorous header, with the collaboration of the Museu del còmic i la il·lustració.

However, the recovery of presence does not mean that the project completely leaves its digital content behind, since one of its objectives is to break down territorial barriers in the dissemination of comics and narrative in images.

In this way, the virtual activities will begin on October 28 and will end on November 20, divided into virtual exhibitions, talks and conferences with artists and publishers within the Network Dialogues and Meetings with Authors and Meetings with Editors initiatives in collaboration with the Moebius Cultural Chair of the University of La Laguna.
