Blood donation reminds the population of the availability of fixed donation points on all the islands

The Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, reminds citizens that on all the islands there are fixed donation points where you can go to donate blood throughout the year.

The Canarian Transfusion Network has operational extraction rooms in all public hospitals in the Canary Health Service (SCS) located in Santa Cruz of Tenerife, The lagoon, The Gran Canarian palms, Reef, Port of Rosario, Valverde, San Sebastian de La Gomera Y Brena Altawhere you can donate blood with all the guarantees of safety and hygiene.

When accessing these SCS health centers, one of the first messages that can be read is donating blood saves livesa legend marked on the ground that marks the start of the call Line of lifea signage that indicates to donors, in an easy and comfortable way, the path they must follow to reach the blood collection areas in each hospital.

In addition, in the public hospitals of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, apheresis is performed that allows the selective donation of blood products.

ICHH fixed point network

On the other hand, the ICHH has its own network of fixed points that complement the blood donation devices that travel through the different municipalities.

In Gran Canaria, there are two fixed points for donating blood and blood products: the headquarters of the ICHH at calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in the building annexed to the Neighborhood Health Center, at calle Guatiza, without number, of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.

In Tenerife, you can donate blood and platelets at the ICHH headquarters located at calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and at the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, at calle Arguayoda, number 2. , from Granadilla de Abona. In addition, in La Orotava there is a fixed donation point in operation on the first floor of the El Trompo Shopping Mall, in the San Jerónimo Industrial Park.

To donate blood at the fixed points of the ICHH, you can go directly or you can make an appointment by calling 012, 928 301 012 or 922 470 012, option 8, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by completing the form published on the website effectdonacion.com.

The ICHH reminds that people vaccinated against covid-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.
