The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, at the request of the Cabildo de Tenerife and in application of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response to Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Infoca), has lowered the emergency situation due to the forest fire declared at the end of July and that affected the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla, La Guancha and Icod de Los Vinos.
The corporation maintains the direction of the fire through its Insular Emergency Plan and has verified that in the last 15 days no focus has been reactivated and the perimeter of the fire remains stable.
However, the pre-alert situation for the risk of forest fires is still in force.
The fire then swept over 2,700 hectares of forest and came to enter the Teide National Park, where it stopped due to the lack of vegetation. In the first days of the emergency, some 600 residents had to be evacuated due to the proximity of the flames.
