The Citizen Security, Mobility and Universal Accessibility area of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched a citizen consultation on the new Mobility and Road Safety Ordinance, which aims to regulate the new uses in this area.
The councilor of the area, Evelyn Alonso, has indicated this Saturday in a statement that this initiative is intended to press the opinion, suggestions and claims of the residents of the municipality on a regulation that seeks to reconcile the rights of all citizens and uses of the different means of transport.
The approval of the new Mobility and Road Safety ordinance of the municipality, says Alonso, aims to regulate the needs of mobility and use of public space, making them compatible with the use and enjoyment of the city.
It adds that in this way, its purpose is to regulate the circulation of vehicles, bicycles, other personal mobility vehicles and pedestrians.
In addition, the ordinance has among its priorities the regulation of other uses and activities that affect road traffic, as well as preserving and promoting road safety and accident prevention, making the equitable distribution of parking spaces compatible, regulating and limiting access to the city of certain vehicles, preserve pedestrian use as well as promote sustainable, accessible and safe mobility in the municipality.
For this reason, with the aim of enabling the participation of citizens in the procedure for drawing up regulations, prior to the elaboration of the project of the ordinance, the opinion of the neighbors and of the most representative organizations potentially affected will be obtained. about the problems that are intended to be solved with the initiative, the need and timeliness of its approval; the objectives of the standard and possible alternative solutions.
The schedule for the approval of the ordinance begins with the public consultation prior to the citizen until September 30; From the second fortnight of September, the elaboration of the project will begin, which must be concluded by the end of October, to pass to the initial approval by the Plenary in November.
From that moment on, it will become public information in December until the first fortnight of February 2023, and from then on, the allegations will be answered and the final ordinance will be drafted for approval.
