The Güímar City Council undertakes the improvement of the outfall of El Puertito de Güímar. The works consist of replacing the section of pipe that runs between the pretreatment hut located in the upper part of Las Bajas to the sea. It is about equipping the area with a pipe with a larger section to guarantee the transport of sewage through this network at all times without the leaks that are usually recorded today.
The mayor, Gustavo Perez, explains that it is an “important” action because in this strip of the outfall route the sewage of the urban case and those that supply the networks of Avenida Los Pescadores and El Puertito Viejo coincide. A situation that usually leads to breakage of the outfall and the consequent formation of puddles of sewage and pollution.
These works are carried out “in the area attached to the wastewater pre-treatment station located on Camino El Pozo”, explains the councilor of Urbanimso, Airam Puerta, who recalls that the estimated execution time for these works is encrypted “in about thirty days.”
To carry out the work with safety guarantees, the City Council of Güímar proceeds to close the Camino El Pozo from Playa de los Tarajales to the tunnels of this road, located under the Autopista del Sur (TF-1). Puerta apologizes to the citizens who may be harmed by this temporary rearrangement of traffic, according to his accounts on social networks.
The Consistory awards six photovoltaic panel projects for public centers
The first deputy mayor also states that this action plan also contemplates the installation of new drive control systems in the pumping stations of Rambla de Los Pescadores and Calle Edelmira Pérez Campos. Added to this is the placement of a new filter screen in the existing station. All this, with the purpose of “seeking the highest safety and quality in the wastewater pretreatment system”.
Likewise, it should be noted that the Consistory is developing a dozen projects that will lead to savings in energy and money, estimated at more than 64,000 euros per year. Airam Puerta highlights the fact of the reduction in the levels of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere, which with the execution of this initiative amounts to 126 tons of CO2.
The City Council of Güímar, through the Energy Efficiency Area, benefits from a subsidy aimed at improving energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in public infrastructure, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and in the framework of the Canary Islands Operational Program. Currently, half of the projects are awarded for 161,382 euros.
