The Treasury and Economic Affairs area of the City Council of La Laguna is already preparing the budget document for the 2023 financial year, with the aim that it can be approved by the municipal plenary session in the last quarter of the year, so that it comes into force on the 1st of January. The different areas of Government are finalizing their investment forecasts for the next financial year, for the definitive drafting of the document that will be prepared by the Economic Services.

The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, points out that “if the 2022 budgets were for economic growth and reactivation after the damage caused by the pandemic, now is the time to present a consolidation budget for the improvements we have achieved, with the increase in social care, the improvement of public services and the economic revitalization of the municipality, supporting with fiscal measures both the family economies so that they conserve their purchasing power and the business fabric, and the reinforcement of cultural activity as a dynamic agent, in addition to be a hallmark of our city.

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez explains that “in these budgets, in addition to dealing with the economic effects that still stem from the health crisis, we must take into account the difficult situation generated by the war in Ukraine, with the rise in fuel prices and the electricity rate, in addition to the transport of goods”.

For his part, the Councilor for Finance and Economic Affairs, Alejandro Marrero, assures that the purpose of the budget for 2023 will be “to direct economic resources to consolidate the growth of the business fabric and the data on the recovery of employment in the municipality and, at the same time, time, the strengthening of the social fabric with direct actions and through the support of social entities to guarantee the level of well-being and quality of life of our neighbors”.

“In the same way, the maintenance of municipal services with the increases approved in previous years will be a priority, especially with the contracting of a new waste collection service, as well as the new contract for parks and gardens. These improvements will be consolidated in the 2023 budget”, assures Alejandro Marrero, who also highlights the increase in funds for the maintenance and improvement of municipal infrastructures.
