The Cabildo de Tenerife promotes the execution of 23 improvement and conditioning projects in coastal areas of the island in collaboration with the municipalities and the Government of the Canary Islands, in order to recover more and more public spaces for the use of citizens, as explained the insular president, Pedro Martín, who adds that 17 of the works have already been completed.

Martín details that a total of 16.8 million euros are invested in major actions, such as the Bajamar dam, “a historical demand from the residents of La Laguna to which we have responded in this mandate” (2,058,530 investment euros); the adaptation of Los Roques de Fasnia, whose works are estimated to be completed next summer (1,707,656 euros); the execution of the new promenade of La Hondura, in Santiago del Teide (1,204,245 euros); or the adaptation and improvement of the coastal paths of San Blas and Amarilla Golf (2,416,690 euros), to improve the mobility and experience of residents and tourists.

Of the six actions that are underway, those in Garachico, San Miguel and Candelaria will be completed before the end of the year, and the projects in Fasnia (2) and Guía de Isora are expected to be completed in 2023.

The island president highlights the importance of these actions, with which the Cabildo is revaluing the Tenerife coast. “The work is focused on providing modern and accessible infrastructure, equipment and services in maritime environments, for the enjoyment of residents and tourists and for improving the economy of these coastal towns,” emphasizes Pedro Martín.

The 23 improvement and refurbishment projects in coastal areas of the island are part of the Tenerife y el Mar program, within the strategic framework for island development of the Medi-Fdcan funds. Among the actions also stand out: the comprehensive renovation of the Los Tarajales beach promenade, in Fasnia (1,354,051 euros); conditioning the front of the beach of Las Caletillas, in Candelaria (1,884,072 euros); the recovery of the breakwater of Playa de Las Eras, in Fasnia (516,393 euros); and the adaptation of the access paths to the beaches of Benijo and Almáciga, in Santa Cruz (498,618 euros).
