The Circle of Entrepreneurs and Professionals of the South of Tenerife (CEST) has indicated this Tuesday that the energy saving measures promoted by the central government seem to be “unconnected”, for which they have requested that a clarification be produced in this regard.
This has been the conclusion that the CEST has gathered from its associates after a first contact with different businessmen and professionals of the organization. “The different regulations seem to be unconnected, so we need a framework that clarifies fundamental issues for their application,” said the president of the CEST, Roberto Ucelay.
He adds, in a press release, that the collaboration of public administrations is “essential” to “clarify” issues that generate doubts among businessmen and professionals, since he has assured that “they are not” “against” these measures but they need “information and dialogue with public institutions” so that “specificities and concrete cases” can be considered where applying these restrictions “becomes more complicated.”
All this, explains Ucelay, after observing that the application of these measures is having several effects among the business community of the southern region of the island. In this sense, he affirms that employers want to “lower” their electricity bills and “move towards a more sustainable model”, however they understand that these measures “can harm the quality” of their services and “the comfort of workers, fundamental to guarantee the necessary level” of provision.
Thus, he pointed out that it is the “lack of specificity” regarding the application of the rule and the “lack of attention” to the specificities of each type of business, which “causes great inequalities” in relation to the consequences, being These are some of the reasons that have generated “generalized discontent among the business community.”
Ucelay has stated that the consequences “are greatly affecting the comfort” of workers and customers, clarifying that comfort at work is one of the issues that “most” worries because “it is practically impossible to work eight hours more than 25ºC” and the template must be “cared for”.
To this, he adds, that “many” customers have also complained about the heat in the different establishments, “affecting the user experience”; while in other cases “confusion is the predominant tonic” because “some issues are not defined”, among which they cite as an example “which of the temperatures must be a maximum of 27ºC? Finally, he understands that other issues such as the “shock” between the application of these measures and the maintenance of health recommendations due to Covid-19 have not been considered either.
