The Cabildo promotes a network of entrepreneurs and businesswomen between Tenerife, Cape Verde and Senegal. The Minister of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez, reveals the commission to the University of La Laguna to carry out a study on the female business fabric to identify market possibilities and start working on a network of women between the Canary Islands and Africa (Red Reca).
The work identifies the main female agents in each territory, as well as initiatives on equal opportunities, sustainability and development cooperation. Eighteen companies, nine from Senegal and nine from Cape Verde, are selected along with eleven Tenerife from the public and private sectors. Women make up 51.2% of the Senegalese population and 49.8% of the Cape Verdean population. They are very strong in the trade, textile, handicraft, fruit and vegetable and transformation of agricultural products sectors.
