Aid for 475,000 euros to “reconvert industry and crafts”

The council call for aid for promote the circular economy and “reconvert” industry and crafts. The island councilor for Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, details the characteristics of this new line of subsidies, which will be open until September 5 and has an initial budget of 475,000 euros, for the island’s business associations. expandable up to 725,000. Investments in projects carried out from January 1, 2021 can be accepted retroactively. The amount of each aid will reach a maximum of 70% of the total eligible expenditure up to a cap of 15,000 euros. Likewise, a minimum investment of 3,000 euros per applicant will be required.

A few days before the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) this past Monday, the 15th, Minister Baso held a meeting with representatives of the main associations and business entities of Tenerife to spread the characteristics of these innovative grants. They combine the reconversion of a strategic sector, such as industry, with the implementation of production and work systems more sustainable based on the reduction of consumption and the efficient use of resources.

Appointment at the highest level

The meeting with the Cabildo was attended by the vice president of the CEOE, Eduardo Bezares; the general director of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Lola Pérez, and the president of the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca), Abbas Moujir. Along with them, representatives of the Industrial Association of the Canary Islands (Asinca), the Federation of Metal Companies of the province of Tenerife (Femete), the Association of Young Entrepreneurs (AJE) and the Círculo de Empresarios del Sur (CEST) also participated.

Baso recalled in this forum that the line has that initial budget of 475,000 euros, divided into two annuities (2022 and 2023) and may be extended up to 725,000. The deadline to request it extends from yesterday, August 16, to September 5, both inclusive.

“The future of the industry lies in adapting the production and distribution systems to the new needs and demands of the market”, explains the minister. She baso adds to conclude: “It is also necessary to adapt to current regulations in order to achieve greater profitability and business efficiency.”

Everything related to the planning and implementation of a digitization process and the transition to a circular economy, such as ecodesign, the recovery of secondary materials, advanced recycling, servitization –redefining business strategies– and so on.

Self-employed and SMEs

Will have priority self-employed and companies with less than five employees, as well as those projects in which people who have a proven disability of at least 33% participate. It should be remembered that this is the first line of subsidy launched specifically from the insular institution for this industrial reconversion.
