Within the framework of the resource optimization policy and in order to provide a permanent quality service to the citizen, the Arona Town Hall, through the Environment area and the concession company, proceeds to the renovation of all the container points for the collection of waste located on the beaches of the municipality. The local government assures that “Arona has opted to make a leap in quality to its beaches, improving infrastructure and services with the replacement of all containerization points.”
Currently, the beaches of Arona have more than 200 120-litre containers for selective collection, which will be completely renovated, highlights the municipal government.
It should be noted that in order to carry out a correct separation of waste at source, it is not only necessary to have the appropriate means, such as specific containers for each fraction, but it is also of special importance that all users of the beaches undertake to make correct use of them, depositing plastic containers, cans and briks in the yellow container; paper and cardboard, in the blue container; glass containers, in the green container and, finally, food scraps, napkins, handkerchiefs, among other waste that cannot be recycled, in the black container.
The municipal government led by José Julián Mena recalls that in the course of this last year the Environment area has improved resources in this area, so that the points with containers on different beaches that did not have the means for selective collection. Some examples of this are Playa de El Callao and Playa de La Ballena. It also announces that an ecological island will soon be installed on Las Galletas Beach, in the area of the Red Cross post.
The Councilor for the Environment, Ruth Lorenzo, has highlighted that “we work with special intensity in summer before the arrival of a greater influx of bathers, but we do it throughout the year to continue having a coastline and beaches that are reference thanks to the work carried out by the services and workers of the coast».
It should be remembered that the City Council and the company awarded the service opted for containers of their own design, locally manufactured and 100% metal, thus avoiding their burning. The 615 units of these containers improve the service to citizens, since they have a capacity of 3,000 liters compared to 2,400 the previous ones.
