Work begins to secure the slope of the path between Radazul and Tabaiba

The work called Conditioning of the slope of the Radazul-Tabaiba coastal promenade It has already started on the coast of El Rosario, as confirmed yesterday by the Rosario City Council. This is the work to reform and secure the slope of the pedestrian path, which suffered a large rockfall earlier this year. The action, which will be carried out by the Consistory, benefits from a grant of almost 95,000 euros from the Ministry of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government processed through the General Directorate of Tourism Infrastructure of the regional Executive.

Specifically, the action will consist of stabilization of the slope between the coastal promenade and the containment systems already installed. In this way, the slope is ensured under the dynamic barriers, as well as between them and the existing mesh protection. The treatment of the slope is projected by means of a combination of containment systems that are made up of a reinforced steel mesh, formed by galvanized, plasticized and triple twisted wire. This system will be reinforced with 25-millimeter-diameter fastening bolts at a depth of 1.5 meters.

As will be remembered, the Consistory was forced to close the pedestrian path between Radazul and Tabaiba, Inaugurated in 2010, due to a landslide that occurred in a section of the promenade as a result of heavy rains on January 16 and 17. Another aspect to take into account is that the current local government never looked favorably on the route of a pedestrian path that runs through the cliff that separates one and the other nucleus and that does not comply with the universal accessibility law as it has important sections of stairs to bridge the existing height difference.

The Consistory was forced to close the pedestrian path due to a landslide

Given the importance of the landslide, the City Council had to mark the accesses to the trail at both ends (next to the Radazul beaches and next to the Moro beach, in Tabaiba) and prohibit the transit of people to safeguard the safety of passers-by in the event of another possible landslide.

After this, the City Council of El Rosario hired a specialized company to carry out the drafting of the project and carry out the administrative processing by the urgent procedure. In June it went out to tender and a few weeks ago the work was awarded to the specialized company Solutioma Sociedad Limitada. Yesterday the layout act was signed by the municipal architect, director of the work, the last procedure before the start of an action that has a maximum execution period of three months.
