The Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife announces that it will proceed to “superficially” rehabilitate the surface of two roads located in the surroundings of Las Galletas. Specifically, these are the TF-653 island roads, in the section between the area of Guargacho Bajo and Palm-Mar -whose route will be affected in its entirety-, and the TF-652 in the 1,700 meters that run between the kilometer points 4,300 and 6, which connect the same town of Guargacho and La Estrella. All this in the municipality of Arona.

To make the development of this action possible, the Island Governing Council approved the construction project in response to the need to undertake this intervention, scheduled on the island’s road network.

The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, justifies this need and argues for this that “the area is very deteriorated”, as a result of the fact that it has not been the subject of any work “in a decisive way” for a decade. The circumstance occurs, explains Arriaga, that the routes object of these works correspond to “sections that register a high density of traffic”. To correct this situation, the Island Corporation approves an investment of 982,435 euros.

At the moment, Enrique Arriaga recalls that the project to be carried out is in the public exhibition phase. He maintains that “the intention” of the Government of the Cabildo is to start the process of awarding the work as soon as possible in order to start it. He emphasizes that with this, “the needs of the residents and regular drivers in the area will be met.”

intersection safety

One of the objectives of interventions in the road network is to improve safety. In this case, Arriaga states that the Cabildo’s Highways area “is working on the design of an adequate connection at the intersection of both highways, TF-652 and TF-653, as well as the access of a pedestrian that allows citizens to travel the area without any danger.

The insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, indicates that the term of execution of these works, once the works begin, will be four months. From his perspective, the new paving will allow safer and more comfortable driving in this strip of Arona located between the Autopista del Sur and the coast, in a residential, agricultural and tourist environment.

Tomás Félix García recalls that in the development of this mandate, the Cabildo de Tenerife is developing “an ambitious improvement of the surface of the main island roads”, with special attention to those that had not been intervened for decades.
