Hemodonación urges the population to donate blood before the August bridge

The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, urges the population to donate blood before the August long weekend with the aim of maintaining the reserves of blood products of all blood groups.

The ICHH reminds the elderly population of the importance of donating blood regularly, every three or four months, to balance the stock of the Canary Transfusion Center and thus guarantee hospital activity. At this time, donations are needed from all groups, especially A+, O+ and O-.

Donation Protocol

To donate blood you can go directly or you can make an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effect donacion.com. Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this same web page in the Information and Protocol tab, to familiarize yourself with the established security measures and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.

The ICHH reminds that people vaccinated against covid-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.

Donation points operational on the weekend

This weekend it will be possible to donate blood without an appointment in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma.

In Tenerife you can donate at the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 00 and Sunday and holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, will be operational tomorrow, Saturday, August 13, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. And the mobile blood donation unit will be in the Plaza de la Catedral de La Laguna from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

In Gran Canaria you can also donate tomorrow Saturday at the Las Arenas Shopping Center between 9:45 and 14:00.

Finally, at the University Hospital of La Palma you can donate throughout the long weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Donation points operational next week

Next week the ICHH will have temporary donation points operational in the municipalities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, La Aldea de San Nicolás, La Laguna, Candelaria, Adeje, Telde, Haría and Puerto del Rosario.

These temporary spaces are added to the fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, Granadilla de Abona, La Orotava, Puerto del Rosario, Arrecife, San Sebastián de La Gomera and Breña Alta.

Where to donate in Gran Canaria

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the mobile unit located at the main entrance of the Las Arenas Shopping Center, next to the sphinx, remains operational, where it will serve donors from Tuesday to Thursday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. 9:00 p.m., Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In addition, the Las Rehoyas Sports Complex, located in Parque Las Rehoyas, will host a new donation point starting Thursday, which will be operational on the first day from 10:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On the other hand, in La Aldea de San Nicolás, a donation room will be set up in the Center for the Elderly, located on Calle Real, number 33 (opposite the Caixa). Donor service hours will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Finally, in Telde, the donation room set up in one of the Alcampo de La Mareta Shopping Center premises, together with the lottery administration, will be operational next week on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

As for the fixed points, you can donate blood at the ICHH headquarters at calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from Tuesday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. 8:15 p.m. (has a ford for donors).

In the southeast region, Santa Lucía de Tirajana has a fixed donation point at the Neighborhood Health Center, on Calle Guatiza, no number. The hours of attention to the donor population next week will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

You can also go to other fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network such as the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays. All of them have a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate in Tenerife

Next week a new temporary donation point will be set up at the Guamasa Citizen Center, on Camino Santa Rosa de Lima, number 47, belonging to the municipality of La Laguna. This point will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Also in La Laguna, the mobile unit will be operational on Saturday 20 in the Plaza de la Catedral between 10:00 and 1:15 p.m.

On the other hand, the municipality of Candelaria will host a mobile blood donation unit at the bus station, located at Rambla de los Menceyes, number 9. Donor service hours will be Tuesday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and from Wednesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Finally, in Adeje, the X-Sur Shopping Center, located at Calle Lisboa, number 2, in Torviscas Alto, will host a mobile unit on Friday 19 where withdrawals will be carried out between 10:45 and 13:15 and 17: 30 and 19:45 hours.

As for the fixed points, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate blood at the ICHH headquarters on calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, from Tuesday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: 30 hours.

In the southern region, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, will be operational from Tuesday to Thursday from 1:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 9:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Both points have a ford reserved for donors.

And in the north, in the municipality of La Orotava, the fixed donation point located on the first floor of the Multicentro Comercial El Trompo, in the Polígono Industrial San Jerónimo, is operational from Tuesday to Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

At the Hospital Universitario de Canarias you can donate without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. And at the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria you can donate without an appointment from Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It has a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate in Lanzarote

The mobile blood donation unit will be next week in the municipality of Haría. From Tuesday to Thursday it will visit the town of Arrieta and will be installed in La Garita street (next to the Arrieta self-service) on Tuesday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 00 to 20:15 hours.

And, on the other hand, on Friday, August 19, it will be located in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Haría, where it will serve the donor population between 10:15 and 1:15 p.m.

You can also donate blood at the fixed point of the Canarian Transfusion Network at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital. The schedule is from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Monday it will be closed for holidays) prior appointment request by calling 928 59 55 72 option 3.

Where to donate in Fuerteventura

The blood donation team in Fuerteventura will be operational next week in a room on the third floor of the Las Rotondas Shopping Center in Puerto del Rosario, where it will serve donors on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday and Friday between 9:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

In addition, on the Island you can donate blood at the fixed point of the General Hospital of Fuerteventura from Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Monday it will be closed for a holiday). To donate it is convenient to make an appointment in advance at the number 928 546 684.

Where to donate on La Palma

The University Hospital of La Palma has a fixed collection point where you can donate from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., by requesting an appointment by calling 922 185 312 or 922 185 320.

Where to donate in La Gomera

The Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe has a collection point where you can donate blood on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for holidays). It is necessary to make an appointment in advance by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213 or by completing the appointment form at effectdonacion.com
