CC-PNC analyzes the situation of cat colonies with animal associations. The nationalist councilor Antolín Bueno points out the need to coordinate the actions of the Administrations with the groups. He recalls that the bill for the Animal Protection, Rights and Welfare Act condemns animal abuse and requires all cats to be sterilized.

Bueno points out that “it is necessary to have the groups when making decisions and implementing measures. We are talking about a situation that affects animals, people and natural spaces».

During the meeting, the effectiveness of the CER method (Capture, Sterilization and Return) to control cat colonies and the new regulation proposed by the draft Law was discussed.

“It is necessary to reconcile the actions of the Cabildo with town halls, animal associations and groups and the College of Veterinarians in such a way that the measures taken are effective,” explains Antolín Bueno.

The Animal Protection, Rights and Welfare Law contemplates the obligation to identify by means of a microchip and proceed to the surgical sterilization of all cats before six months of age, although it establishes the exception of those registered in the identification registry as reproducers already name of a breeder registered in the Registry of Pet Breeders.
