An investment of 2.7 million euros will make it possible to renew the sanitation networks in the Valleseco neighborhood. The project, approved by the Local Government Board of the Santa Cruz City Council, proposes the rehabilitation of the sewage system in nine streets of the Anaga neighborhood. It will be co-financed 50% by the Corporation and the Cabildo, still within the Municipal Cooperation Plan for the period 2018-2021. The capital makes available to the insular institution the necessary land for the execution of the works.

The initiative contemplates changing the existing concrete network for PVC pipes that guarantee watertightness –ability to prevent the entry of foreign bodies–, as well as the adequate dimension for current and future requirements, in addition to incorporating the separation of water pluvial. Also the repair of the existing rainwater channeling that runs under the stairs in the area is plannedthe execution of a new device, as a spillway, and the complete renovation of the surrounding supply network.

The action includes work on nine streets in the urban core of the Anaga neighborhood. Specifically, Reverend Onesimo Betancort, Juan Silvestre, José Batán Manuel Lomo, Pedro Delgado, Antonio Saro, Enrique Lara, Rafael Soto and 55 meters from Fernández Vega.

The drafting of the project and works management was contracted by the Cabildo to Cívica Ingenieros SL for 78,502 euros.

The base budget for the tender for the Valleseco sewerage renovation works amounts to 2,769,060 euros. The financing is distributed in equal parts, half each, between both administrations involved. This proportion is a novelty compared to other years, since the Cabildo bets on small municipalities, with less than 20,000 inhabitants, and penalizes the large ones. Thus, the insular economic contribution will vary depending on the population: 90% for those with less than 20,000 inhabitants; 80% for those between 20,000 and 50,000, and 50% for those populations of more than 50,000. The new Cooperation Plan increases from 48 to 60 million and includes another item of almost 3.5 for drafting projects.

The project must correct the observations contained in the reports of Emmasa, dated May 28, and the Municipal Planning Office, dated June 7, 2022. Santa Cruz resolves to “make available to the Cabildo those precise lands to carry out the execution of the works.

The Local Board agrees, finally, “to authorize the Cabildo to subtract from the resources of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) of the Corporation the amount of the municipal percentage in the execution of the work” which amounts to half; that is, 1,384,530 euros.
