The Cabildo de Tenerife allocates 516,000 euros to the repair of the breakwater of Las Eras beach

The Cabildo de Tenerife has awarded the Satocan company the work to regenerate the Las Eras beach breakwater, in the municipality of Fasnia, for an amount of 516,393 euros. The works will have an execution period of eight months and foresee the reconstruction of the breakwater, to ensure greater protection of the bathing area and reduce the intensity of the waves.

The insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, has indicated that for the council “The protection of the coast is a priority to guarantee its enjoyment in quality and safety conditions by bathers, as well as by lovers of water sports, since this coastal enclave is a benchmark on the Island for the practice of diving, so the works will include the adaptation of the breakwater to favor the entry to the sea of the athletes”.

“The action responds to the demand of the residents of the municipality and will benefit all citizens, as well as visitors and tourists in the area,” said Castro, who highlighted the cooperation received from the Fasnia City Council to carry out this work and that the coastline of the municipality has a renovated breakwater facing the ravages of the sea.

The island official clarified that the project adds to the actions that the Cabildo has been carrying out to condition and provide modern and accessible services and infrastructures to the coastal towns of the Island, which live facing the sea, and boost the local economy in the beach areas in a sustainable way. She added that these actions want to value the natural wealth of the Island, as its beaches are one of the main attractions of the destination.

For the mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, “it is an important work for the region, for Fasnia and for the Las Eras neighborhood because it guarantees us the use of the beach even in adverse weather conditions.” “In addition, the work is not a whim, since it has damage to one of the sea fronts, running the risk of taking the sand from the beach,” he added.

The action is part of the Tenerife y el Mar program, within the strategic framework of island development of the Medi-Fdcan funds, with which the Cabildo has been working to improve the beach areas, coastal towns and coastline of Tenerife.
