The Pinolere Fair returns to its original dates, from September 2 to 4

The Pinolere Regional Craft Fair, after the changes generated by the global pandemic, returns to its original dates: the first weekend of September. Thus, the XXXVII edition will take place in the ethnographic site of this emblematic urban center of the Villa between September 2 and 4.

Yesterday, the poster was presented at the Town Hall with the motto Sharing wisdom is an act of love, as it is dedicated to the living treasures of the Canary Islands, to the master craftsmen of various trades who have transmitted their wisdom and knowledge to a new generation. There is growing concern in the artisan sector about the generational change in traditional trades, as stated by the representatives of the Pinolere Cultural Association, Leoncio Luis and Jesús García, during the presentation, which also included the island councilor Carmen Luz Basso and the mayor of La Orotava, Francis Linares.

Linares underlined “the exceptional and incalculable work carried out by the Pinolere Cultural Association in favor of popular culture and recovering traditions, ethnography and trades, in addition to carrying out important outreach and education work, trying to share wisdom and avoid that traditional trades may be lost, which is why he considers the theme and motto of this edition to be very appropriate».

“Almost 40 years of exemplary work and that have made projects like this exhibition, which began very simply, have become a benchmark in the Canary Islands and that artisans from all the islands want to be present in it,” he says. the press release, which adds that “in this edition there will be 160 artisans from all over the Archipelago”.

Francisco Linares understands that “Public administrations must undoubtedly support these projects, so the City Council has always been and will continue to be, and appreciates that the Cabildo has joined. The local councilor also highlighted that the City Council of La Orotava currently grants a “significant subsidy” to the Association, which exceeds 84,000 euros, and a collaboration agreement is signed annually.
