The City Hall of Santa Cruz will proceed this Monday, in the Government Board, to award the asphalting of 44 streets of the city, distributed by all the districts, for a value of 5.1 million. Three companies will be in charge of carrying out this work, which will represent one of the most important investments of this mandate.

Thus, the company Obras, Desarrollo y Asfalto is the successful bidder for Lot 1, corresponding to the Anaga district, where they will pave seven streets, for 917,385 euros. Probisa Vías y Obras has been awarded two of the five lots, specifically the Centro-Ifara (seven actions) and Ofra-Costa Sur (11), which will involve an investment of 1.2 and 1.5 million respectively.

The third company is Constructora de Proyectos y Obra Civil, which has been awarded lots 3 (Salud-La Salle) and 4 (Southwest), with seven and 12 streets, respectively. The investment will be 846,000 euros for Salud-La Salle and 677,843 for the Southwest. The terms of execution move between eight and four months.

The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, yesterday valued this investment, noting that, “Santa Cruz has made a significant administrative effort to launch as soon as possible a parallel plan to the maintenance of public spaces that allows a short-term intervention in all districts of the municipality.

“The award of said plan -he continued- will allow us to start in the coming weeks the execution of said works so that they are finished in the coming months. The objective is that both this extraordinary plan, as well as through the maintenance contract and its different lines of work, the streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and all its districts, have a considerable improvement in the coming months”.

From Public Services, its manager, Carlos Tarife, also valued the municipal effort to implement this asphalting plan, noting that “it is excellent news, which reflects the enormous work that has been done by Public Services to carry out this tender and now its adjudication”.

Southwest District Asphalting

The work that will begin in the coming weeks will be added to the work that is already being carried out in districts such as the Southwest, where 17 streets are already being resurfaced, work that will last until the end of the year. Bermúdez and Tarife, together with the district councillor, Javier Rivero, yesterday visited the resurfacing works on Turilago street, one of the 17 roads that will be conditioned, and which together has an investment of around 860,000 euros, “one of the the most important in history in this district”, said the mayor.
