CC urges Torres that the meeting with Sánchez “not be a paripé” because there are “vital” issues for the Canary Islands

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national secretary general of the Canarian Coalition (CC), Fernando Clavijo, urged this Friday the head of the Canarian Executive, Ángel Víctor Torres, that the meeting he will hold in the coming days with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, ” don’t be a paripé” because there are “vital” issues to deal with for the Canary Islands.

Torres and Sánchez are expected to hold a meeting taking advantage of the Spanish president’s stay at the official residence of La Mareta, in Lanzarote, and about what Clavijo has pointed out will be a “new failure for the Canary Islands if he only stays in one
protocol photo and does not end with certain commitments for the islands”, as reported by CC in a press release.

“That meeting cannot be a paripé; there are matters to
Canary Islands and, especially for La Palma, which are vital and it is not
conceivable that no firm commitments will emerge from that meeting, with a date of
execution and application”, he added during an act on the Palm Island.

He added the need to specify the commitment of both presidents “with the people of La Palma”, pointing out that “there is a resolution proposal approved by the Congress of Deputies that only depends on the political will of the PSOE to apply it and that would allow the deduction of 60 percent in the income statement for all palm growers during the next 10 years”.

For the secretary of the nationalists, it is a “fair measure”, pointing out that “it is the impulse that the island needs to maintain and attract population”, as well as to reactivate the island’s economy, for which he hopes that this meeting come out “that firm commitment that supposes, in an average salary, a monthly injection of more than 300 euros for all palmeros”.

He has also indicated that the meeting “cannot conclude” without announcing the agreement so that bus transportation on all the islands “is subsidized at 100 percent and not 50 percent” as has been proposed.

“It is not fair, it is not acceptable and there is no justification for trains in the Balearic Islands and the Peninsula to be free and in the Canary Islands, where we do not have trains, it does not apply to the buses that are our trains,” he pointed out.

Given this, he said, Torres “cannot continue covering up and justifying Sánchez’s contempt because it is due to the Canary Islands and not to their president”, for which he asked him to “be brave and demand the same treatment for the Canary Islands” as the Government center “gives to the rest of the citizens of the State”.

Finally, Clavijo reproached Pedro Sánchez that “he cannot spend three weeks sunbathing on the same coast where migrants arrive without worrying about that reality and committing to work to avoid
new tragedies”.

In this way, Clavijo understands that the meeting “would be a failure if there is no real commitment, which is more than words, that the Canarian jurisdiction is going to be fulfilled in the next PGE that begins to be negotiated” because “no” is only a question of money, but of “respect”.
