Agents of the National Police arrested a real estate manager from the municipality of La Laguna for allegedly selling a client’s apartment and disposing of the money from the sale, more than 65,000 euros, without her knowledge.
The events have their origin in the year 2019. A resident of La Laguna moved her residence to the United States and decided to sell her apartment in El Cardonal.
To do this, he contacted a real estate agency in the municipality and, since he was going to live on another continent, he granted a power of attorney to his manager to carry out proceedings on his behalf.
Time passed without the professional selling the flat and, finally, months ago the seller found a possible buyer. His surprise came when the manager, upon becoming aware of this situation, began to make excuses about the availability and sale of the property.
The investigators, after receiving the client’s complaint, began to carry out the necessary procedures to verify the facts.
This is how they learned that the real estate professional, taking advantage of the power of attorney granted, had actually sold the apartment in 2020 and spent two years denying it.
The 65,000 euros from the sale were deposited in a bank account created online four days before the operation. The agents related it to the opening of him, since he had the documentation of the swindled and other data clearly pointed to him.
Presumably, this man sold the apartment taking advantage of the power that the victim had given him and that he lived abroad, he disposed of the 65,000 euros as if they were his own and lied to him saying that the apartment was not for sale.
The agents arrested this man in the Ciudad de los Adelantados for a crime of fraud and, after taking a statement from him at police stations, they put him at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
The actions were carried out by national police officers from the Judicial Police Brigade of the La Laguna Police Station.
