SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 3 (EUROPE PRESS) –
IslaBentura Canarias, the laboratory for creating scripts about stories linked to the islands for film and television, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Colombian Foundation ‘Algo en comun’, whose main objectives are the creation of strategies that promote and connect talents and audiovisual projects in Latin America and in Ibero-America in general, promoting the creation of transformative, diverse and innovative stories.
The purpose of this collaboration agreement is for IsLABentura to continue taking steps to expand its presence and international relevance, especially seeking to strengthen ties with Latin America. In fact, this laboratory created by the autonomous government aspires, in its successive editions, to illuminate scripts that speak of both regions, that can also be co-produced by producers from both shores and that in the near future can reach the screens.
Specifically, this agreement with the Colombian Foundation ‘Something in Common’ unites IsLABentura Canarias with its Script Residency project ‘From the Roots’, a space for training and artistic creation designed for screenwriters belonging to black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal and Palenquera communities. or indigenous people of Colombia where it is proposed to strengthen the development of fiction feature film projects, in their writing stage in the framework of an intercultural, collaborative and creative environment. All this within the framework of the Program of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia in alliance with the Something in Common Foundation and the Visible Hands Corporation.
Thanks to this agreement, one of the screenwriters participating in ‘From the Root’ will virtually attend the final session of IslaBentura Canarias scheduled for autumn this year, and will be able to present his feature film project in pitch format to the invited producers. The project that has been selected by the organization of IslaBentura Canarias from among the 20 participants is ‘The Awakening of Glory’, by Carlos Mera. The ruling was communicated to them at the pitching meeting and award ceremony that took place last Thursday 21 in Cali, Colombia.
On the other hand, the agreement contemplates that the prize for one of the IslaBentura Canarias scriptwriters will consist of benefiting from several counseling sessions by the team of tutors from the Colombian laboratory. The organizing team of Desde la Raíz will present this award at the final gala, after the third meeting of the Laboratory.
IsLABentura Canarias is a creative process project started in May this year at the initiative of the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC), through Canary Islands Film, whose main objective is to create stories linked to the islands whose final destination is cinema. or television. In this first edition, 14 story proposals have been selected, two corresponding to each of the island territories, on which work has been ongoing since then with the support of a team of front-line advisors within this sector in Spain.
