SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved today Tuesday in the Governing Council to tender the drafting of the second phase of the project for the adaptation of the La Barranquera bathing area, in Valle de Guerra, for an amount of 294,482 euros, which will include the improvement of the sanitation network of the coastal nucleus.

The island director of Tourism, Laura Castro, highlighted the importance of these works, which have a double objective: on the one hand, to provide a comprehensive and sustainable solution to sanitation in the town to improve the quality of life of the residents; on the other, to condition the bathing area with quality services to boost the tourist promotion of the area and the municipality within the Tenerife destination offer.

Castro pointed out that La Barranquera is one of the most attractive points on the lagoon coast and “from the Cabildo we are working to value the different coastal towns of the island, to adapt them and provide them with quality benefits and services without losing its essence and identity,” he said.

The insular director added that it is “a traditional bathing area highly valued by the lagoon men and women who, together with the bath, come to enjoy other activities, such as traditional fishing, and with the works they will be able to count on a modern and accessible recreation point”.

After meetings with the City Council of La Laguna and with the municipal sanitation and supply company Teidagua, the operation of the current sanitation network in the area has been analyzed from the Tourism area of the Cabildo, with the aim of providing a solution suitable for this service. “The improvement of sanitation services constitutes, in fact, one of the actions most demanded by the neighborhood,” Castro stressed.

For his part, the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, celebrated “this action by the Insular Directorate of Tourism, which comes in addition to the actions that we are carrying out from the City Council, with the collaboration of different administrations, to improve conditions of the bathing areas of our coastline, in addition to protecting their natural surroundings and disseminating their environmental values”. “Recovering the lagoon coast is one of our main commitments because we are convinced of the tourism and ecological potential that this area offers,” he added.

The mayor thanked the Cabildo for its involvement in a coastal enclave that has experienced a considerable improvement in its endowments in recent years thanks to various interventions by the municipal area of Beaches and Pools, led by Councilor Cristina Ledesma.

In addition to contemplating the sanitation solution, the planned action will include the conditioning of the coastal front and a solarium area, among other complementary services. The project is part of the Tenerife y Mar project, through which the island’s coastline is being revalued.
