SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The company Management and Territorial and Environmental Planning (Gesplan) has removed the ash from 413 homes, 91 agricultural plots and 145 roads or access tracks to homes and farms on the island of La Palma, from January to the present, within the framework of the work carried out through the ‘La Palma Volcano Emergency’ Employment Plan.
The CEO of Gesplan, Agoney Piñero, emphasized the progress of this project, which emanates from the agreement between the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
“Throughout this year, we will develop this employment plan that, with an investment of 24.5 million euros, will allow various rapid action measures to be carried out to alleviate the damage caused by the volcanic eruption, mainly in the Valle de Aridane, through the direct hiring of 865 people, in addition to numerous companies, the vast majority in La Palma”, he remarked.
Piñero valued “the collaboration and coordination between all administrations, since both the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment, the Cabildo de La Palma and the municipalities of El Paso, Tazacorte and Los Llanos, we have worked hand in hand with the main objective of dealing with the effects caused by the volcanic crisis and helping, especially, the affected citizens”.
Likewise, he insisted that, from the outset, Gesplan “offered to collaborate in everything necessary, due to the experience acquired in other employment plans and recovery work in areas affected by eruptive processes, as has been the case of the Fogos Island, Cape Verde”.
The CEO highlighted the progress and the results of the work of the Employment Plan and thanked the commitment and effort of the team that is part of this project.
In addition, he explained that until now, in which the Plan crosses its equator, the work has focused on cleaning up ash in the territory, which has allowed the recovery of residential, agricultural and infrastructure uses, such as street accesses. , sidewalks and local roads, as well as interventions in natural spaces and forest areas, such as trails and recreational areas.
“Another of the fundamental legs of the Extraordinary Employment Plan is training, in this sense, since it began we have not stopped and more than 300 people have already benefited from the different actions, and it is planned to impart 52 actions, reaching the entire workforce at the end of the project”, he pointed out.
