The Cabildo de Tenerife reactivates prohibitions due to the risk of forest fires

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 1 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has activated since Monday grade 1 measures for the prevention of forest fires, taking into account the meteorological circumstances and the declaration of alert by the Government of the Canary Islands.

Therefore, the cultural use of fire (agricultural and forestry, prescribed, stubble, scrub, waste…) and recreational use (barbecues, bonfires, campfires and gas stoves, among others) are prohibited.

In the same way, the use of any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks (brushcutters, welding equipment or radial cutters) and the use of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas is suspended.

The Minister for Management of the Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García, has appealed for “prudence and common sense”, and recalls that in the coming days “the islands will record an episode of heat where temperatures are expected to be between 34 and 38 degrees, which can lead to serious problems for our mountains if we are not responsible”.

In addition, the counselor insisted on the obligation to respect the restrictions on access to the environment of the areas affected by the forest fire, which is controlled, but not extinguished. Thus, she recalls that transit is temporarily prohibited in the area affected by the fire, both cross country or along any trail, path or track in the forest area, except for management reasons or due to force majeure.

This measure affects the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla, La Guancha and, partially, Icod de los Vinos, where it has been determined that from the Cruz del Majano, Icod Firewall and Reventón de Cangas tracks to the East, there are no traffic restrictions.

In addition, in the municipal terms of San Juan de La Rambla and Los Realejos, traffic is closed above the TF-344, from the municipal limit of La Guancha to Pista Lolita. In that area you can only enter for basic maintenance of the farms and for the care of animals.

Likewise, the recreational areas and camping areas of El Lagar, Fuente Pedro, Chanajiga and La Tahona, as well as the Emilio Fernández Muñoz camp and the classroom in Nature and the Barranco de la Arena camp, remain temporarily closed.

From the Cabildo it is also recommended to take extreme precautions with any activity that can generate fires (tobacco, use of generators, electrical and pyrotechnic material…).
