SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 31 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Javier Parrilla, has reported that the Tegueste Market will offer local fishery products from this weekend, mainly from the Nuestra Señora de la Consolación Fishermen’s Guild, in Punta of Hidalgo.
With the aim of promoting this initiative, the Cabildo, through the Tenerife Coastal Action Group, has collaborated with a gastronomic conference on sustainable fishing at the Market, in which the most typical fishery products of the area were presented . Similarly, posters have been placed and informational materials will be distributed.
Javier Parrilla indicated that the success of this initiative “was evident sooner than expected and all the fish was sold from the early hours of the morning, which demonstrates the need for more and more markets on the island to join and have a point of sale of fish”.
The new fish stall responds to the agreement reached between the Tegueste City Council, the Market Association and the Punta del Hidalgo Fishermen’s Association. In this way, the Tegueste Market goes one step further, and in addition to potatoes, cheese or honey, it will have a section of fresh, local, zero kilometer seafood products.
