The project for the integral rehabilitation of the La Rosa Street ready. Next Monday, the Governing Board of Santa Cruz intends to approve it, a step prior to being able to put the work out to tender, a tender that will have a base budget of 5.2 million euros. It has taken ten years since the first announcement of the remodeling of this street was made, and after many comings and goings, including the authorization of the insular area of Historical Heritage, it finally seems that next year it will be possible to put out to tender and start the work .

It is about carrying out a complete remodeling of the aesthetics of the street with a new floor plan distribution, expanding the pedestrian strips complying with the accessibility conditions imposed by the regulations, with the complete renovation of the paving.

An elevation of the street level will be carried out for the creation of a single platform (Urban type), with a complete delimitation of the uses through the pavements, rethinking of the axis of the road for the transit of vehicles and parking lines , yes, with fewer parking spaces, in addition to beautifying the street with trees that provide shaded areas, and its corresponding irrigation network, and accessible street furniture.

There will also be a complete renovation of public lighting on the sidewalk, and underground services (supply, and sanitation), as well as reinforcement of services (telecommunications and electricity) and provision of a new drainage network for rainwater . Finally, the placement of underground waste containers will be carried out, and the design of compatibility with the rest of the streets of the El Toscal neighborhood.

All this has a planned execution period of two years, and financing that comes from the Next Generation funds, of which the City Council has obtained 9.4 million to limit traffic in the city center, so the remodeling of La Rosa street will be charged to part of these funds, specifically for 1.7 million.

The objective of the action stems from the planning proposed in the El Toscal Mobility Plan, which aims to renovate the narrow streets of said neighbourhood, advocating the improvement of pedestrian accessibility and the beautification of the streets, at the same time to allow a more fluid traffic by the vehicles that pass through the area, by widening the roads.

For the execution of the works, the project proposes the temporary occupation of a plot for health and safety facilities, storage of materials and auxiliary machinery, given the existing limitation due to the width of the road and maintenance of access to homes and existing premises. The purchase of a plot of land for just over million euros is also being studied to dedicate it to car parks while the work lasts.
