The CEO of the Foreign Action area of the councilLiskel Álvarez, presents a plan to promote internationalization in which the island institution will collaborate with the Local Development Agencies of the 31 municipalities of the Island to promote the expansion of Tenerife companies towards new markets abroad and attract investment capital foreigner to Tenerife.
Liskel Álvarez highlights that this is the first time that the Island Corporation facilitates the active participation of the Tenerife municipalities in an internationalization project, “given that the municipalities are, on occasions, the first administration with which future investors contact », value.
From the Cabildo, he adds “the purpose of this project is to expand commercial, social or institutional relations with other countries to position the Island of Tenerife as a commercial, logistical, educational, cultural and cooperation hub (centre); all this taking advantage of our geographical location between Europe, Africa and America». Álvarez especially values this concept of the tri-continentality of the Archipelago.
Among the actions planned to be carried out, a comprehensive advisory service is included, in terms of internationalization, aimed at the municipalities and the companies located in them, as well as the deployment of dissemination campaigns aimed at municipal personnel and the business sector.
Likewise, a specific training and support program will be carried out focused on both local agents, to serve external investors, and SMEs with export potential, to advise them on the steps to follow in the broad framework of internationalization.
Vocation of continuity
“The initiative was born with a character of permanence that allows the channels of communication between the Cabildo to be kept alive with the 31 municipalities of the Island and the companies that are part of our productive fabric,” says Liskel Álvarez, who highlights the collaboration received from councils when joining this action.
The Head of Service of the delegated insular area of Foreign Action, Francisco Paredes, anticipates that “this project will be enriched with the production of a catalog, in digital format, in which information will be collected on the resources of each municipality, its business fabric , industrial estates, public infrastructures to be concessioned or land exchanges, among other data of interest to investors who show a willingness to settle in the territory».
“The service will also collect information for SMEs that have internationalizing potential,” says Paredes, who emphasizes the functionality and novelty of this resource.
The presentation of the new tool starts with a lot of support, which is reflected in the attendance at the act of representatives of several municipalities of the Island, as well as the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
