Arona will not impose fines for building sandcastles on its beaches. Everything is part of a confusion that has spread like wildfire during the last hours when echoing the hoax various national media. The Arona City Council itself has had to respond to this information.

The Arona Town Hall He wanted to go out today to the passage of the information that has been made public on social networks, some of which have even reached national media. These point to a ban on making children’s sand castles on the beaches of the municipality, which is false.

All of them date back to a draft ordinance from 2009, in view of which limiting the use of sand by coastal users was being studied. However, in the municipality there is still no beach ordinance, which is why regulations such as Coasts govern, which establishes that activities that occupy the maritime-terrestrial domain must have authorization from this department.

It refers, not to the construction of the usual children’s castles, but in the case of large sand structures, such as sculptures, which are seen on many beaches and which, in most cases, are linked to the request for money, to which produces the occupation of public space that, in addition, is seriously deteriorated.

In the event that you want to carry out an activity of these characteristics, it is necessary to request authorization, not to the Arona Town Hallbut to the owner of this space, which is the Demarcation of Coasts, who will be the one who, following a municipal report, which is not binding but only mandatory, grants the permit or not.

All in all, there will be no fines for building sandcastles on the beaches of Arona, something that made headlines early this afternoon, even at a national level.
