SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 26. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported a case of monkeypox under investigation, with no new cases confirmed since yesterday, so since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 98 confirmed cases, of which 66 were detected in Gran Canaria, 30 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 98 confirmed cases, 66 in Gran Canaria, 30 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura; one probable case, pending confirmation, reported in Gran Canaria, and one suspected case, pending confirmation, reported in Fuerteventura.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
