The Botanical Garden Palmetum of Santa Cruz has been recognized by the prestigious Tripadvisor platform as the winner of the Travelers’ Choice 2022 award. This award distinguishes those establishments that have received excellent opinions from travelers from all over the world during the last 12 months.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, was delighted “with such a prestigious award that is dedicated to promoting places internationally and that the Palmetum of Santa Cruz achieved for the first time in 2019, and which represents recognition of one of our most important tourism products”.
Since its inauguration in 2014, the garden has consolidated its position as one of the most important tourist attractions in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, receiving thousands of travelers every year who have enjoyed the magnificent botanical collection and who have been able to live historic botanical events such as the recent flowering of the Corypha Umbraculifera, a unique event on European soil.
For his part, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Alfonso Cabello, this award “comes to endorse the work that has been carried out over recent years, mainly in investment and promotion of a park that is unique in its kind and that carries the Santa Cruz brand both nationally and internationally.”
The good experience of the visitors, who have decided to rate and express their positive opinion about the botanical garden on one of the most used platforms worldwide, have made the Palmetum de Santa Cruz one more year a tourist reference in the Canary Islands, standing out for being a unique sustainable project that transformed the island’s garbage dump into a prestigious garden that currently houses the best collection of palm trees in Europe, along with lakes, viewpoints and an increasingly numerous birdlife.
