The services that act in the extinction of the forest fire declared on Thursday in Tenerife have ordered new preventive evacuations of several towns in the upper area of Los Realejos and the municipality of La Orotava this Saturday afternoon.
These are the neighborhoods of Las Arenitas, Cruz del Castaño and the Chanajiga area in Los Realejos and Orégano Street in the municipality of La Orotavaas explained by the Security Councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez.
Pérez explained that they are evacuations that aim to ensure that neither the fire nor the extinction work cause inconvenience to the neighbors and has assured that at this time there is no imminent danger to the homes.
Pérez did not want to specify the number of residents affected until he had the most specific data, but he pointed out that, according to the technicians, “there are not many people” and he pointed out that the meeting point is the Las Llanadas sports center.
He has insisted that the main thing is the safety of people and has trusted that these evacuations last as little as possible.
Pérez recalled that during the day between 160 and 200 people have worked to extinguish the fire and a seaplane has already joined the work and another will do so in the next few hours.
The front that affects that area, explained the Regional Minister, is difficult since it is almost a vertical slope that separates the valley from La Orotava.
