The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, visited the Advanced Command Post in San Juan de La Rambla this Friday afternoon to see “first-hand” the evolution of the fire in the north of Tenerife that has burned more than 500 hectares.
In statements to journalists together with the Security Councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, he has made a “recognition” of the work of the firefighting and emergency device and also of the Red Cross, which has organized a camp in the municipal pavilion in case evacuations have to be undertaken.
He stressed that the visit lasted a short time because he did not want to “steal time” from the teams but it has allowed him to learn how work is being done on the front line to contain the advance of the flames and that the fire ends “as soon as possible”.
He also wanted to “empathize” with the “sadness and anguish” suffered by the residents of the areas closest to the fire and showed the “support and affection” of the Government to the entire island.
