The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, confirmed this Friday that the Civil Guard has opened an investigation to determine the causes of the Los Realejos fire

At a press conference, he commented that it is known when it started – after 10:00 in the Los Campeches area – but it is still unknown if it was “intentional”, although he remarked that two weeks ago there was an attempt “near there” at a crossroads of forest tracks.

So far the fire has destroyed more than 500 hectares of monteverde and pine forests, covers a perimeter of about 11 kilometers in the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha and has involved the evacuation of a hundred people.
