SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

A hundred troops have worked on land throughout the night of this Friday, July 22, to contain the fire declared on Thursday, July 21, in the Los Campeches area, in Los Realejos (Tenerife), and which has also arrived in San Juan de la Rambla, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center of the Canary Islands 112.

It is expected that in the early hours of this Friday, with daylight, the ten aerial means of the device will intervene again, such as nine helicopters and the Air Tractor with retardant liquid.

Late this Thursday, the head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Care Service of the Government of the Canary Islands, Montserrat Román, stated that the fire is advancing “rapidly” to the west, generating complications on the right flank due to the fact that there are many ravines and abandoned farms that allow the llamas to “feed” easily.

He added that the drones with thermographic cameras deployed at night help to better fix the perimeter – five kilometers with more than 100 hectares affected -.

On the first day of this forest fire, 31 people had to be evacuated in San Juan de la Rambla. In any case, as a precaution, the Red Cross has organized a camp with 50 places in the municipal pavilion.
