SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Since last Friday, the Canary Islands have registered a total of 1,393 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.
On the other hand, in the last four days there have been 12 deaths, six reported in Tenerife, three in Gran Canaria, two in La Palma and one in Fuerteventura. All the people, aged between 74 and 102, had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
The accumulated number of coronavirus cases among people over 60 years of age amounts to 89,020 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 1,541.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 651.91.
Since last July 8, a sustained decrease in the cumulative incidence at 7 days has been observed, when we reached 913 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Currently, in the Archipelago there are 515 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 29 are in the ICU and the rest, 486, on the ward.
