The Tacoronte City Hall announces that the old bus station, located in the core of La Estación, will become a new free public car park that “will alleviate the lack of parking in this commercial core.” The infrastructure, which has never been used for what it was designed for, “will have a second chance thanks to an agreement with titsawhich will facilitate the urban planning of the area, since the project to which it is linked plans to provide it with new accesses and facilitate mobility with a new promenade that runs through the corridor where the Tax Consortium office is located, which it will be demolished to relocate it in a new building in the same area,” according to the local government (PSOE-NC-SSP).
The transformation project of the bus station was submitted to the consideration and debate of the Municipal Plenary, and had the unanimous support of all the parties in favor of the demolition for the creation of new facilities. The northern Consistory will turn the station into a parking lot for 74 spaces, of which 2 will be for electric vehicles. A square will also be set up to improve the environment.
The works, which will last 12 months, will have an initial budget of more than 637,098 eurosfully funded by the Tacoronte City Council.
Mayor, Jose Daniel Diaz (NC), celebrates that the project allows «to create a new parking lot where they do not exist, since the bus station is underused because legally it cannot be used for that purpose. Now it will be a place where citizens can leave their vehicles with direct access to the commercial area. In addition, he indicated that “it is also contemplated to develop the Paseo Delineante, where the Tax Consortium office is located, to favor accessibility with the commercial area through ramps and pedestrian and safe accesses.”
