The Municipality of Los Realejos made public this Monday, July 18, the list of winners in the 2022 edition of the awards Featured Realejeroswhich in this edition have fallen to the Canarian Association of Patients and Families of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ostomy (Aceiip)in the category of Social services and volunteering; the lodging establishment Hacienda El Terreroin Tourism; the craftsman Anthony Rodriguez Ruizin popular traditions; the musician and composer Ramon Perez Hernandezin Culture; the establishment Boutique Obrador Reliefin Entrepreneurship and business; teacher Isidro Diaz Estradain Educationand the scientific Jezabel Curbelo Hernandezin section Research.
Mayor, Adolfo Gonzalez (PP)has already sent a communication to all the people and creditor entities of the distinction Featured Realejeros 2022‘, after the bases of this call were approved, the corresponding period for the presentation of proposals and candidacies was opened by citizen entities duly registered in the municipal registry, they were transferred to the jury appointed for that purpose and the unanimous verdict, in ordinary plenary session last June. The corresponding award ceremony will be held on July 29 of the distinctions in the Plaza de San Agustín.
The jury was made up of the mayor himself, Adolf Gonzalez; the Councilor for Culture; one more representative for each political group of the municipal corporation, as well as representatives of the community tables of citizen participation of each district of the locality.
González details that “in this edition personalities and entities have been designated for seven different categories, all of them obtaining proposals for candidacies by neighborhood entities of the locality of a social, cultural, sports or other nature. In each case, arguments and justification have been provided based on the merits, which we understand as one more exercise of citizen participation in the locality».
“The purpose of these awards is recognize or thank people, institutions or entities for the work carried out for the benefit of the municipality and its inhabitants in various areasand that is why they will receive such a distinction, as they have been informed directly through postal mail, ”announces the mayor of Los Realejos.
The awards Featured Realejeros they were called for the first time in 1990, and were held annually until 1995. The next call was that of 1997, at which time it began to have a periodicity every two years, until 2001. In 2004 they were resumed and there were calls in 2006, 2008 and 2010, then opening a period of absence, until its recovery in 2018 These last prizes were awarded in February 2019. Although a new call was proposed in 2020, it did not materialize due to the health emergency caused by the Covid-19.
The first winners in 1990 were Juan Jose Gonzalez Iglesias (in the category of Tourism), Pedro Diaz Diaz The Veguero (popular traditions), Guillermo Camacho and Pérez Galdós (historical and cultural heritage), Caritas Parish Groups (Social services) Y Basilio Labrador Sanabria (Sports). In the last edition, that of 2018, which was delivered in 2019, the winners were Antonio Estévez Pérez (popular traditions); Hotel Rural Bentor (Tourism), Jesus Agomar Gonzalez Guillama (Culture), Sedomir Rodriguez de la Sierra Gonzalez (Entrepreneurship), Sister Rosa Maria Molina Delgado (Social services), and the Venerable and Dominican Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Between 1990 and 2018, entities such as the Cantares Polyphonic Choir, the Teatrejo theater group, the Los Realejos Lions Club, the Millennium Association for the Disabled, the Cultural Associations of El Sol and El Medio Arriba streets, or the Los Alzados Folklore Group.
