SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national secretary general of the Canarian-PNC Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, demanded this Friday from the central government “the immediate application” of the 60% tax reduction approved in Congress at the proposal of the Canarian nationalists, who managed to carry it out with the votes in against the socialist deputies in the ‘Debate on the State of the Nation’.

In this regard, Clavijo assured that he did not understand “why the PSOE refuses to vote in favor of La Palma and the Canary Islands” but, he pointed out, “the mandate is clear and the only thing we hope for is that they be democrats and that they comply with what sovereignty popular vote in Congress, they are obliged to comply”.

The nationalist leader pointed out at a press conference that “the initiative seeks to continue providing answers to the exceptional situation that the island of La Palma has experienced in recent months” and pointed out the viability of a tax reduction that is already applied in Ceuta and Melilla.

Clavijo insisted on not understanding the position of the president, Pedro Sánchez, and much less that of the Canarian president and general secretary of the Canarian Socialists, Ángel Víctor Torres, who “gives orders to the Canarian Socialist deputies to vote against the Canary Islands and, in this particular case, from La Palma”.

At this point, he reproached that Torres “defends one thing here and tears his hair and at the moment of truth the final picture is that the acronym of his party matters more than the Canary Islands or the difficult situation of the palm and palm trees.”

For her part, the island secretary of the Canarian Coalition of La Palma and deputy, Nieves Lady Barreto, valued the initiative approved in Congress that will mean “an economic injection” for the pockets of the palm growers and for the island’s economy.

Barreto acknowledged that the pandemic and the volcanic eruption have affected 83% of the island’s GDP and precisely the tax cut is one of the measures that his party has been putting on the table for months, “as well as others necessary to activate the economy And they haven’t been taken care of.”

The nationalist leader assured that from the first moment they have stressed that “not only do we have to return the lost money, but we also have to put in place measures such as fiscal and economic incentives so that the investment stays in La Palma and so that it really can generate economic activity.

Lady Barreto stated that with the measure approved this Thursday “a palmero with an average salary will be able to count on 370 euros more than his payroll each month”, for which he insisted on the need to “start up as soon as possible”.

RODRÍGUEZ SEES “SAD” THAT THE PSOE DOES NOT SUPPORT HIM

Along the same lines, the mayor of El Paso and deputy, Sergio Rodríguez, valued the initiative of the nationalists that “will allow the island’s economy to mobilize” but recognized that “it is sad” to see that it has gone ahead with the I vote against the Socialists and “see how the PSOE leaves aside” the island with measures that “can go directly into the pockets of palm trees and palm trees”.

Likewise, he criticized how the president of the Canary Islands says that “he defends La Palma and at the moment of truth orders the Canarian socialist deputies to raise their hands against the island and the palmeros.”

Rodríguez pointed out that “the Governments of Spain and the Canary Islands still do not understand the dimension of the catastrophe” and acknowledged that of the 500 million euros that the State has announced have been injected into the island, “more than half have nothing to do with with funds that have entered the island and that have reached the palmeros’ pockets”.
