The man who killed his ex-partner in Santa Úrsula is sentenced to more than 18 years in prison

The The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has sentenced the man who killed his ex-girlfriend in Santa Úrsula to 18 years and six months in prison following the ‘mataleón’ method and then hid the body in a septic tank.

The sentence, made public this Friday, imposes six months for a crime of breach of sentence and 18 years for the crime of murder with the aggravating circumstance of kinship and the extenuating circumstance of confession, and also requires him to pay compensation of 250,000 euros to the victim’s daughter.

The ruling is not final and it is possible to file an appeal before the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC).

The sexist murder occurred in July 2020 in his own home in the municipality of Santa Úrsula The convicted person broke a restraining order that a court in La Orotava had imposed on him for two crimes of mistreatment.

Days after the crime – which was executed from behind and with the ‘mataleón’ martial arts technique – the man asked some friends for help to get rid of the body but none agreed.

Only one agreed to go to the house and looked at the body in the garage of the house but did not help him take it to the sea, as was his intention, and later discussed it in a bar until the owner called the the Civil Guard of La Victoria.

Finally, the man ended up confessing the facts to the agents after his initial refusal.
