SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 13 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported two new cases and one under study for a possible diagnosis of monkeypox since yesterday. Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, there have been 80 confirmed cases, of which 52 were detected in Gran Canaria, 26 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 80 confirmed cases, 52 in Gran Canaria, 26 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura; four probable cases, pending confirmation, reported in Gran Canaria, and one suspected case, pending confirmation, registered in Lanzarote.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
