The problem of the proliferation of rats in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is not new. There are many citizens who have complained about the proliferation of these rodents, like yesterday, DIARIO DE AVISOS, denounced what was happening in the heart of the city’s Ramblas.
During the night of this Saturday, a person has recorded a ‘family of rats that climbed a tree in the aforementioned area since these animals, mainly when day falls, appear in the streets in search of food that they find because someone usually leaves bread.
However, on this occasion, it is unknown if the rats were tempted by food scraps. At the beginning of the year 2020, rat extermination work, but months later the situation worsened. “We take our dogs for a walk and we find dirt and rats. Beyond being careful so that the animals do not eat what they have left behind, the problem is the large presence of rats”, they declared affected at the time to this newspaper.

According to residents of the zonethe problem, or at least part of it, is due to the fact that “first thing in the morning” a neighbor leaves food for abandoned cats to eat, which attracts rats.
The video that accompanies this news item was recorded at 5:45 a.m., in the Rambla Pulido area, and it shows how the rats approach the tram tracks in large numbers to eat the food that before, the aforementioned neighbor has left them.
“We’ve been like this for years and the pests have proliferated,” they say, while praying for a solution because the situation is now “completely unsustainable” in terms of the number of rats in Santa Cruz.
