The Canary Islands register 14 deaths and almost 2,400 new infections in people over 60 years of age in just three days

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 8. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Since last Tuesday, the Canary Islands have registered a total of 2,364 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, so the accumulated number of cases of coronavirus among this group amounts to 83,701 people in the Islands, as reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Likewise, in the last three days there have been fourteen deaths, seven reported in Gran Canaria, six in Tenerife and one in El Hierro. All the people, aged between 62 and 98 years, had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.

The Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 1,548.11 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 864.71. Currently, in the Archipelago there are 458 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 21 are in the ICU and the rest, 437, on the ward.
