SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 5. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, together with the second deputy, Milagros Fuentes, has met with residents of the Todoque neighborhood and has announced the creation of a specific area in the Institution for those affected by the La Palma volcano, which, since its creation, already has a total of 36 complaints.
During the meeting, the affected people made several complaints about not being able to build on their land after the volcanic eruption, despite being far from the lava, due to a classification of the land that “is not in keeping with the times nor does it correspond to the reality”.
They asked for the change in this classification of the soil of their land in the Insular Plan in order to have a regular home and, as they said, “go back to our roots and build on our plots.” In this way, they requested flexibility and a real change for the cases of those people affected with inherited land: “We do not want to do business. We want to live on our plots.”
The group reported on the forthcoming creation of the Pampillo-Todoque Platform in order to rebuild the Pampillo road so that they can return to their lands. “We defend the right to return. We ask that our property be respected and not be left homeless,” they said.
The Deputy of the Common assured that the Institution will continue in contact with each of these families to find out about any new situation, as well as make the pertinent follow-up of each one of the complaints and will contact the competent administrations to know the situation.
The Diputación del Comun has added a new department to the 28 areas of work carried out by the Institution, aimed at the people affected by the La Palma volcano. “When there is a special case, we open specific areas to dedicate them to the groups involved. We already did it with covid-19 and now we have done it for the people affected by the volcanic eruption,” Yanes explained.
In this case, he pointed out that they have dedicated this area to the second deputy, Milagros Fuentes, and to a technician who will study each of these cases individually in order to defend them before the Public Administration, Yanes pointed out.
