The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands communicates seven new cases and nine under study for possible diagnosis of monkeypox since yesterday. Therefore, from the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there is 53 confirmed cases, of which 36 were detected in Gran Canaria and 17 in Tenerife.
All cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows:
– 53 confirmed cases, 36 in Gran Canaria and 17 in Tenerife.
– 10 probable cases, pending confirmation, six notified in Gran Canaria and four in Tenerife.
– A suspicious case, pending confirmation, registered in Gran Canaria.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
