Thousands of people lived this weekend the summer carnival most unusual in Santa Cruz of Tenerife which, after two and a half years of the pandemic, dusts off the tutus and glitter on the street.

One week after the end of the Carnivals in Santa Cruz de Tenerifeit is the turn of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that this July 1, 2 and 3 will experience its most atypical carnivals due to the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic forced the parties to be split in two, with the Carnivals of street.

More than 192 tons of garbage collected from the streets during the Carnival. Specifically, the City Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerifethrough the Department of Public Services headed by Carlos Tarife, collected a total of 192,100 kilos of waste during the street party.

The special cleaning operation involved 150 workers who collected 5,300 kilos of containers4,080 kilos of paper and cardboard and more than 182,720 kilos of remains between Thursday and Monday.

A decrease in collected waste of 48.9% is recorded with rRegarding the last edition of the Carnival in 2020, also due to the fact that this atypical June celebration had a single weekend.

Regarding cleaning, Valoriza SA used more than 1,004,800 liters of reclaimed water for washing down, 262,125 liters of drinking water and 1,185 liters of cleaning products, such as disinfectants and deodorizers. “Work has been reinforced in areas such as the Plaza del Príncipe, the Plaza de España or the Avenida de Anaga, which have had a greater influx of people during the Carnival”, adds the mayor of Public Services of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Carlos Fee.
