The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, with the councilor of the Centro-Ifara district, and the mayor of Infrastructures, Guillermo Díaz Guerra and Dámaso Arteaga, respectively, inaugurate next Monday, July 4, starting at 5:00 p.m.: 30 hours, this new children’s park, in front of the Plaza de España, which bears the name of La Gesta del 25 de Julio, an area of about 2,500 mtwo under the theme of this key event for the capital that will serve as the start of the acts of the 225th anniversary of this date where the Tertulia Amigos del 25 de Julio and the Cultural Association of the Deed of July 25, 1797 will participate.

Bermúdez highlights that “it is the largest park in Tenerife and, possibly, the largest urban area for children’s games in the Canary Islands, so girls and boys are invited to discover the Gesta of July 25” and announces that “It will also make it possible to visit it on routes organized by schools, etc., which will generate other educational uses for this space, which has an investment of around 600,000 euros and which will be available to citizens from 2:00 p.m. on Monday” .

The mayor maintains that “it is a debt that we had with the Gesta of July 25, which supports a proposal by the city’s official chronicler, Luis Cola Benítez, since he considered that it was a very fun way to be able to teach the history of Santa Cruz and one of its most outstanding events” and adds that “so this Monday will be a day to add to the milestones of this city, with a theme children’s park that can be visited by schools, individuals and visitors, where A fundamental part of the idiosyncrasy and the value of the chicharrera population will be known a little more.

For his part, the councilor of Centro-Ifara commented that “it is an excellent moment for the district, precisely because it highlights the history of Santa Cruz, in particular, as a fundamental part of that of the Canary Islands” and adds that “it is about a way to visit the history of our city adding fun and knowledge for the little ones, but, at the same time, for their parents and grandparents” and concludes by stating that “a basic education with a forceful dimension, since if it is not taught the vicissitudes that this city has experienced to the youngest, will hardly be able to get involved in its memory”.

Dámaso Arteaga, in this same sense, indicated that “at the inauguration next Monday we must value the fact that we have had to overcome some difficulties that have arisen due to transportation issues, price increases and others” and argues that “what is intended with this new space dedicated to children, but also to the whole family, with services that can be implemented, is to improve the leisure offer, especially for the little ones, provided by the city of Santa Cruz”.
