SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Canarian Airways company, which was presented in February 2021 to operate flights between the islands and the Peninsula at the initiative of hotel businessmen, has ceased its activity to redesign its market strategy.
This is how the newspaper ‘El Día’ advances this Wednesday and has confirmed to journalists the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, an institution that had planned to contribute 700,000 euros to the company to help its launch.
The president of Tenerife has commented that Canarian Airways has informed him that the project is going to be “reformulated” to acquire more aircraft and for now they are “waiting” for more documentation that supports the economic viability of the initiative.
He has commented that it is an “interesting idea” to operate in the national market and help lower the “high” prices of flights thanks to increased competition, but he has specified that so far they have not contributed “a single euro”.
“We are waiting to study all the information that guarantees us that we can embark on this adventure with all the guarantees,” he added.
Likewise, he has indicated that the process of incorporating the Cabildo into the company “is long” since it has to go through up to three different plenary sessions. “We are not yet at that moment and we continue to wait,” he commented.
