Support for fashion and crafts in Tenerife with three fairs in the last semester

The council promotes the fashion and crafts sector with the organization of three fairs in the remainder of the year, the so-called Tenerife Market. Sixty companies from the island will participate in them, which will also have three multi-brand points of sale located in La Laguna. Santa Úrsula and Costa Adeje, to which another one is expected to be added in Santa Cruz.

The Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, details, in a meeting with the participating firms, the opportunity of these events to promote and sell “the unique offer and talent of Tenerife” in a single space.

The calendar of Tenerife Market, Author Crafts, defines several ephemeral spaces dedicated to the promotion and sale of multi-brands, which will take place in different parts of the Island.

Carmen Luz Baso and the general director of Socioeconomic Development, Ermitas Moreira, held this meeting with the companies together with the director of Tenerife Moda, José Sánchez Giusepe. Baso points out that this is the first time that the Cabildo, in collaboration with the municipalities and the Tenerife Moda brand, has opted for this new event model to promote the sector throughout the year. “Marketplaces have become a very attractive formula for promoting and selling everything that Tenerife can offer in a single space,” explains the councilor, adding: “The objective is establish new direct communication channels between the public and the creators of the fashion and accessories sector They do not have a physical point of sale. At the moment, three events have been closed, although work is being done to develop a fourth market in the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The first, in Adeje.

Ermitas Moreira explained that this same month, from July 30 to 2, the first Tenerife Market, Fashion and Author Crafts will take place, which will be located in The Duke Shop shopping center, in Costa Adeje. “An event with which we want to give visibility to brands in the intimate swimwear and accessories sector, taking advantage of the summer season and the influx of tourists who choose the south of the island to spend their summer vacations,” explains Moreira. The organization entails the development of various complementary actions to boost sales. These include the distribution of a discount card for the restaurant businesses in the shopping center and the holding of a raffle for items from the exhibiting companies, which are part of the Tenerife Moda group, worth 500 euros.

In Santa Ursula.

On July 29, 30 and 31, a new Tenerife Market will take place in La Casona, in Santa Úrsula, an event that seeks to promote and encourage the consumption of eco-sustainable products. On this occasion, the Cabildo has joined forces with the northern City Council to bring together fashion brands, artisans, designers who use sustainable products in the preparation of their garments and products in a single point. In the same place there will be several foodtrucks, while other complementary actions will be developed, such as talks, workshops and live music performances.

On the Long Way.

The third of the markets is scheduled for the month of November and will take place at the Castillo del Camino Largo, in La Laguna, to take advantage of the jump in sales that the proximity of the Christmas holidays entails. On this occasion, and in addition to the Tenerife Moda companies, space will be given to other Canarian designers, combining the points of sale with the development of a complementary program of activities.

New markets.

The councilor Carmen Luz Baso highlights the positive trend that has been registered in the fashion sector so far in 2022. “After three very complicated years, many of the fashion companies have again begun to promote themselves in shows, fairs or national and international trade missions, with the aim of recovering distribution levels, and sales prior to the pandemic of the covid-19», points out the minister who details that this year Tenerife Moda will be present at twenty fairs, five of them international and fifteen national.

Almost 90 companies.

The Tenerife Moda program includes a total of 89 companies, all of them with a track record behind them and with growth potential in new markets. The island’s textile designs and products are sold in more than twenty countries on five continents. This year, bridal and children’s fashion brands have reached new agreements to start marketing their designs in China and South Korea, joining other destinations such as the United States, Japan, Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Mexico, Colombia, Portugal, Ireland, Slovakia, Malta, England, Romania or Panama.
