SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 27. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI), has today put out to tender the execution of reform, repair and conservation works of 1,212 homes in the public housing stock of the Canary Islands, with an investment of 2,984,505 euros financed by the Feder Funds of the EU.

This item will allow financing 19 lots of works in various groups of public housing spread over ten Canarian municipalities, actions included among the programs of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, and aimed at improving habitability, energy consumption and accessibility in protected houses.

Interested companies may submit their offers to the ICAVI before July 25 to carry out rehabilitation actions in 713 houses in the province of Las Palmas, with an amount of 1,500,000 euros, and 481 homes in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with a budget of 1,484,505 euros. The municipalities in which these groups of dwellings to be acted upon are located are Mogán, Valleseco, Arucas, Gáldar, Telde, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Vallehermoso and San Miguel. of Abona.

Once the ICAVI awards these projects, the winning companies will have a three-month execution period to carry out roof waterproofing, facade repair or improvement of common spaces, among others. Also this year there will be a tender for the replacement of the wood carpentry in several older groups by other more modern aluminum windows. This is the case of several blocks on Ramblas de Jinámar (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) or that of the groups located in Añaza and Los Alisios (Santa Cruz de Tenerife).

These 19 actions, which are carried out with the help of Feder funds, have this year received a significant budget boost from the Ministry, since in this year the provision for this purpose is increased, reaching three million euros for the 1.6 million that were allocated in 2021.

With this new action, the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing continues to meet the objectives of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, among which is the development of policies that promote the rehabilitation of public housing in the Archipelago and its adaptation to the new environmental requirements set by the EU. For this reason, starting next year, the Feder Funds are going to focus on financing actions to reform and replace elements that promote energy efficiency in ICAVI public housing.

Thanks to the rehabilitation works that are financed with the Feder Funds, during this legislature the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing will have managed to rehabilitate and reform more than 3,800 homes in the public park of the Autonomous Community from 2019 to this year, with a global investment of more than 5.4 million euros, taking a significant leap in quality in improving the situation of existing public housing in the Archipelago, allocating the necessary resources for this purpose.
